안녕하세요! My name is Jon Oaks. I got my show name Prof. Seung Chan from a friend I met while on a tour of Seoul during my first trip back to Korea since being adopted. Although I am an award-winning math professor with over 17 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I've never been one to be boastful. But my friend told me that I should be proud of who I am - past and present. And the nickname Prof. Seung Chan helps me to do that by acknowledging my accomplishments and honoring my Korean heritage. So, although I was once 백승찬 (Baik Seung Chan) and I am now Professor Jon Oaks, these two parts of my life don't need to be separate. Anyway, check out the info below!

Facts about Prof. Seung Chan

  • I really am a professor. I've taught math full-time at Macomb Community College in Warren, MI, since 2011.

  • Nick may brag about his hair, but I have really nice calves. Remember that guy from MTV's True Life who wanted calf implants? Yeah, I'll never need those.

  • I'm the king of home organization and most everything in my home is nicely organized in a labeled box.

  • My favorite flavor of soju is strawberry and I prefer Del Taco over Taco Bell.

  • I love Detroit history and give an amazing tour of Downtown Detroit that includes stories about a chocolate chip cookie murderer and an alien conspiracy theorist - we should hangout sometime.
